The focal point of the picture is the man facing the sea of the fog, but the observer can see him only from the back.The man is almost completely covered by the shadow,and given the fact that we cannot see his face, neither his eyes, gives me an impression that the painter wanted us to take the point of view of the man. He is suppose to represent echa one of us, each person that is looking at the picture. The paessage that the man is watching are the mountains covered by the fog, taht are dissapearing in the distance. According to me, the main is watching into his future, into the unknown, into something unpredictable. A person watching an infinty like that feels small, silent, feels respect, and that is the atmosphere that the picture exerts, silence.
