IL PARADIGMA |
| L'uomo non può assolutamente vivere in una grande sfera, perché
la sua forza o facoltà di rapporto é limitata. In una piccola
città ci possiamo annoiare, ma alla fine i rapporti dell'uomo all'uomo
e alle cose, esistono, perché la sfera dei medesimi rapporti é
ristretta e proporzionata alla natura umana. |
Man cannot live in a big sphere because his power of relationship is
limited. In a small town one can get bored but relationships between man
and things exist because the sphere is restricted and proportioned to human
nature. |

| In una grande città l'uomo vive senza nessunissimo rapporto
a quello che lo circonda, perché la sfera é così grande
che l'individuo non la può riempire, non la può sentire intorno
a sé, e quindi non v'ha nessun punto di contatto fra essa e lui. |
In a big city man lives with no connection to what he is surrounded
by because the sphere is so wide that he cannot feel it around him and
fill it up, therefore there is no contact point. |

| Da questo potete congetturare quanto maggiore
e più terribile sia la noia che si prova in una grande città,
di quella che si prova nelle città piccole: giacché l'indifferenza,
quell'orribile passione, anzi spassione, dell'uomo, ha veramente e necessariamente
la sua principal sede nelle grandi città, cioé nelle società
molto estese. La facoltà sensitiva dell'uomo, in questi luoghi si
limita solo a vedere. Questa é l'unica sensazione degli individui,
che non si riflette in verun modo nell'interno. L'unica maniera di poter
vivere in una città grande, é che tutti, presto o tardi,
sono obbligati a tenere, é quella di farsi una piccola sfera di
rapporti, rimanendo in piena indifferenza verso tutto il resto della società.
Vale a dire fabbricarsi d'intorno come una piccola città dentro
la grande. |
One can guess how boredom is far more terrible in a big city than in
a small town; indifference, that orrible human passion, or non-passion,
is placed necessarily in the big city, that is in large society. Here man
with his sensorial powers can only see. This sensation is individual and
does not affect man inside. The only way to live in a big city is to create
a limited sphere of relationships, being totaly indifferent towards the
rest of the world. That is to say to build a small town inside the big
city. |
